What is the difference between MK and PK?

Besides the obvious ‘one is for matte paper and the other for gloss paper’, what is the difference? Density, tone, adherence? What happens if you print MK on glossy or PK on matte?

MK is not a glossy ink so it will appear matte on the surface of the glossier paper.

Is there an ingredient in the PhotoBk to make it shiny?
What would happen printing PhotoBk on matte paper?

I only print on matte papers and wondered about whether I could use the PK for something.

Yes.

It would not be shiny. The ingredient in the PK only interacts with glossy paper to produce the shine.

You would lose dMax (blackness of black) when printing PK on matte paper.
