I tried to switch from pk to mk on my P600 but it says ink too low. I changed the carts and it says the same. The only other ink that is low is Yellow but didn’t think that would affect the blacks.
You waited too long and whether this is an EPSON cart or our cart, you can not do the black ink change mode with one of the carts reading too low and it will not reset unless it’s empty. So limbo land! We have a Warning about this directly on the product page as well as in our instructions.
Warning: If your Photo Black ink reading is very very low on the chip and you switch your printer to Matte Black, you won’t be able to switch back to Photo Black. Normally at this point, Epson would force you to buy a new cartridge. When your Photo Black is reading low, keep printing until it resets, top it off, and then switch to Matte Black!
One must be very careful as printing via various software (Photoshop, PDF, Word, etc.) that program may have a default papertype that will force a Blk change. You have to check the properties to be aware of the ink it will use.
