Should I use photo black or Matt ink for digital negatives with epson 3880?

Use photo black. Matte black will smear on film, and is way more dense than you need.

Thank you Keith. I am using piezo DN. That doesn’t make a difference correct?

That is correct. PiezoDN quad profiles are all based on photo black for Shade 1.
