Short term - Leave printer on or switch off

I did find this article by Jon Cone on maintaining your printer for long term storage & infrequent use

This question is probably old and tired for most experienced users but I googled and found opposing views.

If you use it sporadically, like one print today and maybe another tomorrow or you skip a day, two or even three, should one always switch a printer off when the day is done, or can one leave it on thereby saving on wasted ink due to cleaning cycles on each startup?
