Hi Dana- After replacing my dampers, I turned on the 4800 and got the message"service req. 00010004".Now what. I am so discouraged with this printer.

Hi Frank~

As per the repair manual, this error means “Carriage Motor encoder check error (Check sensor and Timing Disk).”

I am unable to help much in regards to printer repair and physical printer issues, but suggest you get the repair manual to learn where the sensor and timing disk are, and how to check them. I assume you may have accidentally bumped something, or something wasn’t put back together correctly, and that’s causing your error.
