Replacing Epson Carts with IJM Carts when installing decoder board on New p800--just cone color inks

I’m planning ahead, as I still have plenty of Epson ink left in the carts that came with my new p800.

I’ve read the instructions for installing the decoder board and the new carts and it is recommended that you install all the new IJM carts when installing the decoder board. Knowing how I use ink, I will run out of blacks/grey’s way before I run out of coloured ink. Assuming that I check to make sure I am not running too low on ink (the remaining coloured ink) in the Epson carts, can I just install the new carts as I need them, instead of at the time I install the decoder board, which will mean I am wasting a lot of ink?

My question is not about icc profiles but more about will the mechanics of the system work.

Thanks!

Jeannie

You can install the new carts as you need them but because the Epson chips are bypassed the OEM cart levels will not be accurate. So do this at your own risk.

Thanks!
And Happy Thanksgiving.
