R3000 not recognizing cartridge

I filled a new LVM cartridge today, my first, spilled some ink on the cartridge, washed it, filled it properly, and the printer gives the error “Cannot recognize cartridge”. I tried repeatedly…no luck. Could the immersion in water shorted the chip?

Please let me know asap if I need a new cartridge, or a ‘chip resetter’…

Hi Bruce~

Yes, it’s possible the water effected the chip and/or chip battery, so I recommend getting a replacement chip to attach to your cartridge, which I see you ordered yesterday.
