Lightroom Calibration Panel

I’m curious if anyone has played around with the calibration panel at the bottom of the Lightroom toolset for toning black and white images as an alternative to using the B/W mix sliders. In some initial experimentation it yielded some interesting results with possibly less banding than pushing the B/W mix sliders around. I kind of discovered it by accident so I really don’t know yet if it’s a higher quality method than the ones already commonly used. Just tossing this out there to see if anyone else has played around with this.
