I have come across a new in the box Epson 4900 for a good price. I would like to step up from my Epson 3800/3880. I really don’t need to print larger than 17 x 22. With the 3800/3880 I get scuff marks on my prints that are visible in large areas like skies. Plus my three Epson 3800/3880 are really starting to show there age and little by little things are failing and maybe time for a new printer.
So the question is any Epson 4900 users out there that could give any advise.
- Would the Epson4900 be worth the move up or maybe wait for the Epson 5000 to be supported.
- Would the scuff marks be reduced or eliminated because of the vacuum paper hold down(if that is what it is called).
Any options or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John
The Epson SureColor T3270 is a 24-inch roll printer that employs only four colors instead of the 11 used by the Epson SureColor 4900. Clear ink cartridges for the CMY inks are also available, which will save you a lot of money. Although we have customers that swear by them, I am unable to comment on your transparency film concerns. What’s the name of the film you’re using? In our 4900s, we haven’t had any issues with Chromaline AccuJet films.
I ended up getting a 4880 with Pro ink set and Cone color inks for the incredible price of $175. I cleaned it up and got the nozzles all clear. Now it is running like a champ. Only had 2200 prints from what the counter said. So now I’m running the 3880 with Selenium ink set and the 4880 with the Pro ink set.
Thanks
