Epson 4900 and manuall paper feeder

when using thick fine art paper ex. jon cone type 2 and my epson 4900 in the rear manual feeder I always need to push down the paper evenly a bit when I press the paper feeder button.

is this normal? does one need to gentle push the paper down as they feed the Epson printer?

it has always been this way from day 1, otherwise if I don’t press down the paper will get stuck all the time.

depends upon the printer sometimes (the tolerances). You can choose to use fine art media the way Epson recommends in their manual.
