I had to migrate the contents of my old computer to a new computer, which is an iMac Pro running OS 10.14.6. I was able to print on my Epson 3880 with no problem with the old computer. On the iMac Pro, however, I am not able to print images at all.
My workflow is as follows: I open up Print Tool, choose the correct printer (Quad3880-K7), my desired paper size, drag and drop my flattened Tiff file into Print Tool. Grey Gamma 2.2 shows up as my embedded profile. I then select No Color Management and 16-bit, load my paper (Jon Cone Type 5) through the back and click Run Print.
I then choose QuadToneRIP in the Layout box, then QuadTone RIP 16-bit, manual paper feed, 2880dpi, and Uni-directional, then click Print. The printer makes all the usual sounds as if it were going to print, then the paper feeds through the printer without anything having been printed.
I should note that the other day I needed to apply GO to some older images and was able to do this with no problems at all. Whatever glitch this is, is apparently only affecting my ability to make Piezography prints.
Any suggestions as to what might be causing this problem? Thanks!
I assume you are also choosing a curve?
Did you also update QuadtoneRIP to the most current? I requires an update if you are updating the system.

Walker
Hi, Walker,
Yes, I am choosing the appropriate curve, and I am using the updated QuadTone RIP that is appropriate for my new OS (Mojave). But the paper just runs through without printing.
Best,
Janie
Will send in a series of emails.
Thanks,
Janie
You have your width and height reversed I think. Set paper size to 17x22, make sure the canvas is set to portrait mode. Rotate the image instead of the canvas so it’s in the correct orientation. Pre-load the paper in the back to ensure it’s not skewed. Then print. Make sure the file has no alpha channels in it.
best regards,
Walker
Ok, I made the changes as suggested (see screenshot) and double-checked that there aren’t any layers or channels in the Tiff file (there aren’t). It didn’t fix the problem.
Thinking that maybe there was some other problem with the file, I converted it to jpeg, but got the same results.
Thanks,
Janie
Also, set to “last used settings” then do your settings, then hit save, then hit print and print

I did what you suggested, but the outcome was the same. I then rebooted PrintTool, thinking that that might make a difference, but no luck.
Thanks,
Janie
Hi, Walker,
Do you have any further suggestions? I am beginning to get really nervous about not being able to print.
Thanks,
Janie
Do you have an iPhone? Probably the best way is to FaceTime this.
-Walker
Yes. I’m available all day today.
Thanks!
Janie
I’m busy this evening, Walker, but am available tomorrow or Wednesday. If you let me know when you can FaceTime (513-846-9336), I’ll make sure I’m free on that day and time. Thanks again for going the extra mile.
Best,
Janie
