Epson 3880 not printing at 2880 resolution

I have an Epson 3880 that has just had the print head and motherboard replaced so I can continue to us the Pieziography inks. Has anyone had an issue where an Epson 3880 will print in 1440 super resolution but not in 2880? Previously I was printing at 2880 resolution.
I can print at 1440 super resolution, but at 2880 the paper feeds and the print head moves across the paper, but no ink is deposited. The quality at 1440 is no where as good as at 2880 and the blacks are far from black.
Any ideas on why and a solution for this?
