epson 3880-error code 131b

I have had my printer and maintained it and has always treated me well. Recently I went to print and gave me error code 131b. I have seen the reviews about the print head being the issue and or the board. My question is how could it be the print head if when I turn the printer on the print head moves back and forth so to me that would mean the board is communicating with print head. So what am I missing guys.
