Ends of print are lighter in value on Epson 1430 with K6 inks

I was hoping someone might be able to tell me why my printer is doing this. It is an Epson Artisan 1430 with Piezography K6 inks purchased from inkjetmall installed. I do not have this same problem when printing square format photos (I assume because of the large borders). With prints where the image fills most of the paper there is a noticeable tone value difference toward the front and back edges, as if the printer is laying down less ink in these areas.

This is due to the quadtoneRIP microweave for this printer. To maximize usage, tape a leader to the front and back of the paper.

Would I then pretend to be printing a 13x22 and put those dimensions in Print Tool?

yes
