cone color ink without buying matt black

I am looking to convert my 3880 to cone color HD ink. I dislike switching between photo black and Matt black ink (due to the massive waste of ink), so is it possible to to just buy the individual inks and skip the Matt black? I have 3/4 tank of Matt black. I guess if I leave it in there it will clog the line, but I’m willing to take that risk. I assume the only drawback is trashing that option forever due to neglect?
