"Cannot recognize cartridge"

Hi!

My Epson R3000 is giving me the message “Cannot recognize the following cartridge. Try installing again.” I have replaced the battery for the VM cartridge and it is still giving me the error message. Any suggestions?

I see that these were purchased in Dec 2011. It is possible that the chip on this cartridge can not be reset or has been static shorted.

You can buy an entire set of spares if you want, but we suggest you pop out the batteries to conserve them. The battery is always in an on state - and trickle. Of course once they are installed the battery has a larger load.
