Can cartridges used on a 1400 be used on a 1430 after resetting?

My new 1430 does not recognize the refilled cartridges I was using on my old 1400. Do I need to use completely new cartridges?

The cartridges are interchangeable between both printers.

Are you sure you have the correct cartridges in the correct locations? You have not miss-aligned a cartridge?

I recommend getting a backup set regardless.
