I purchased the adjwiz2 for the 3800 from 2manuals. I’m not a Microsoft user, but I have a laptop with Windows 11 on it. When executing adjwiz2, it displays “There is no printer that can used”. When going to the setup device portion of System, and says it found an Epson 3800 but there is no driver for it. I then try to find it on the Epson website, but doesn’t display one for Windows 11. I then tried the Windows 10 driver instead… but no change. I swap the cable over to the Mac, and it immediately finds it and adds a queue. (As a USB device)
Since we are using the USB interface to the device, do you really need to install the driver? Can anyone give some advice? Thanks!
It’s a very old software. Are you running it in compatibility mode? it’s 18 year old printer and the utility was designed for early versions of Windows.
2manuals is suggesting you run it as Windows XP Service Pack 3
the guys at 2manuals.com do provide support. Have you emailed them about this? I am sure there must still be some 3800 owners who have experienced same issues and some resolve from them is offered.
Yes, but they seem to be limited on their support. I tried running this under Parallels with Windows 11 and they responded that they weren’t able to help. (I got the same message as this one.) That’s why I’m trying it on a Windows 11 laptop.
I’m waiting for the dampers come in and I’m going to change them when they come in. I was going to do an initial fill once they are installed. I’m just attempting to get the program working in the meantime.
I thought main difference between an initial fill cycle and a cleaning cycle is that the initial fill cycle uses suction alone, while cleaning cycles use electrical stimulus. I thought with stubborn clog the initial fill would more successful.
OK… I’ll just use 2-3 cleaning cycles after installing the dampers.
I let the printer sit for 48 hours and tried a nozzle check. I continue to see the yellow still not responding. I assume the damper will cure that issue. I’m also seeing the same pattern each time from the Magenta channel. Is this indicative to a head delamination problem that was discussed in you initial fill instructions or just a stubborn clog that will be fixed with the damper change?
I replaced the dampers and it looks like no improvement. (It is identical!) Should I take the print head out and clean it… or do you think there is something else going on?
You can try and push PiezoFlush through that channel gently so as not to blow out its side walls. Gentle push and pull and see if you can dislodge what ever is clogging it. The old heads did not necessarily delaminate and more than likely it is either dead jets or they are severely clogged with small accumulations. So patience on that part and I would suggest a silicone tube in the case you push too hard the tube will expand… .
I’ll soak the head in thin layer of PiezoFlush first. (And put tape on the connectors) Do you know which nipple on the back of the head is Magenta? I know which is yellow, as it’s still yellow… which tells me it is clogged in the head…
no sorry I do not - but you can tell by the ink lines coming into the ink selector unit… and do not over tighten those lines or you cut off the ink supply to the head by squashing the seal in the cap - just finger tight
Well… that did it. I took a 10ml syringe and slowly sent PiezoFlush back and forth after soaking. The crap I got out going backward with the yellow was obscene. No regular flushing was going to get that out. I then went through all the nipples and slowly did the same thing. There was a small clog that came loose during that flush. Now for the fun part… putting back together.
